Teaching and learning activities in public universities across the country have been disrupted after university lecturers began a nationwide strike over the implementation of the 2025–2029 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
The strike by members of the Universities’ Academic Staff Union (UASU) and Kenya University Staff Union (KUSU) follows the collapse of talks between the unions and the Inter-Public Universities Councils Consultative Forum (IPUCCF).
The lecturers are protesting what they describe as unilateral decisions on salaries, terms of service and working conditions.
