Party activity

A day after retired President Uhuru Kenyatta resigned as chairman of the Azimio Coalition, the Jubilee Party, which he led until recently, also wants out of the coalition. In an exclusive interview with NTV, Jubilee Deputy Leader Jeremiah Kioni says the coalition, now rebranding as the Ukombozi Alliance, was detrimental to Jubilee’s national presence in 2022, arguing that the party has little to gain from staying in Azimio next year and should instead seek a new coalition.

This comes as DCP and Linda Mwananchi appear to be warming to each other, potentially forming a coalition away from Azimio, in what could further complicate Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s efforts to revive the 2022 political behemoth, following the high-profile departures of ODM and Martha Karua’s People’s Liberation Party.
