The evolving character of warfare demands military leaders who can anticipate change, align capabilities with emerging threats and make prudent decisions on the employment of limited resources.

These imperatives formed the focus of a Lecture of Opportunity delivered by the Deputy Army Commander, Major General John Nkoimo, at the Joint Warfare College (JWC), Nakuru. The lecture centred on the evolving operational environment, emerging security challenges, capability development and prudent resource management.

Major General Nkoimo provided a strategic perspective on the changing character of military operations and the considerations shaping the future development of the Kenya Army. He underscored the need to continuously adapt capabilities, optimise available resources and strengthen institutional preparedness to meet emerging security demands while sustaining operational readiness.
