Concerns over freedom of the media are growing as political tensions build ahead of the August 10th, 2027 General Election. A group of Members of Parliament, including Gladys Boss Shollei, Junet Mohamed and Peter Kaluma, have called for unnamed sanctions against media houses they accuse of misreporting.
The Media Council of Kenya has responded defending press freedom while acknowledging the right to criticize the media.
