NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 11 – Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has questioned President William Ruto’s proposal to introduce buffalo farming in Kenya, dismissing the plan as an inadequate response to the country’s milk shortage.
Gachagua challenged the President’s decision to explore importing buffaloes from India, arguing that the government should instead focus on increasing the number of dairy cows and addressing the challenges facing existing farmers.
“I heard Ruto yesterday saying that there is no milk and that he will consult with his government on how to bring buffaloes from India so that people can milk them. Is he taking us for fools?” Gachagua posed.
