The government is set to roll out an electronic birth notification system aimed at reducing paperwork, eliminating delays and streamlining the registration of births across the country.
Speaking during the Mazingira Day celebrations in Nandi County, Immigration Principal Secretary Kipsang Belio said the department is working around the clock to ensure hospitals can electronically capture and transmit birth details directly for processing.
Belio said the system will enable hospitals to enter essential information, including the child’s name, parents’ names, date and place of birth, before submitting the details electronically for the generation of a Unique Personal Identifier (UPI).
