Kenya’s 2026 Mazingira Week is putting individual responsibility at the centre of the country’s environmental conservation campaign, with citizens being urged to move beyond conversations about the environment and take practical action.
The week began on October 5 and will culminate in National Mazingira Day on October 10. This year’s theme is “Our Environment, Our Responsibility: Collective Action for Tree Growing and Environmental Stewardship.”
Government Spokesperson Charles Owino said environmental conservation should not be viewed solely as a government responsibility.
