Residents of Nairobi West’s Willow Court Estate are raising the alarm over the demolition of a wall and a bridge that they say protected their homes from flooding and provided a crucial link to the main road.
The residents fear that with the El Niño rains approaching, the demolition by Nairobi County could expose their homes to floodwaters and soil erosion, while also restricting access.
The 54 households say Nairobi County officials carried out the demolition without adequate consultation or informing them of its potential consequences, despite a court order.
