The United States (US) Senate on Thursday confirmed Henry Wooster as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Kenya, approving President Donald Trump’s nominee by unanimous consent.
Wooster, a Career Member of the Senior Foreign Service, Class of Minister-Counselor, takes up a post that had been without a confirmed ambassador for months – a gap that left Washington without a permanent voice in one of its most strategically important African partnerships.
Wooster’s confirmation hearing in September offered a preview of his approach, and it was notably free of the confrontational rhetoric that has characterised much of the Trump administration’s diplomacy.
