Chagua Baraza

Baraza rules

A calm place to talk about the 2027 elections. The same rules apply to everyone – voters, candidates and parties.

  • Newest first, never ranked
  • No paid placement
  • 280 characters
  • Checked before it goes live

The eight rules

  1. 1

    Talk about the races

The races, the people running and what your area needs. Disagree with ideas, not with people’s identity.

  2. 2

    No hate speech

Nothing that insults, stereotypes or targets any community, tribe, religion, gender or group – including coded words listed by the NCIC.

  3. 3

    No threats or violence

No threats, calls to violence or talk of weapons – against anyone, at any time.

  4. 4

    No personal attacks

No insults, including against candidates. Criticise records and promises, with facts.

  5. 5

    Only true voting information

Nothing false about how, when or where to vote. Official dates and rules come from IEBC.

  6. 6

    Keep private details private

No phone numbers, e-mail addresses, ID numbers or home details – yours or anyone else’s.

  7. 7

    No spam or adverts

Outside links wait for a moderator. Links to Chagua profiles and news become cards.

  8. 8

    One account per person

Up to 10 posts a day, 280 characters each.

  1. 1

    Zungumzia chaguzi

Chaguzi, wagombea na mahitaji ya eneo lako. Pinga mawazo, si utambulisho wa mtu.

  2. 2

    Hakuna matamshi ya chuki

Usitukane wala kudharau jamii, kabila, dini, jinsia au kikundi chochote – pamoja na maneno yaliyoorodheshwa na NCIC.

  3. 3

    Hakuna vitisho wala vurugu

  7. 7

    Hakuna matangazo

Viungo vya nje husubiri msimamizi. Viungo vya Chagua huonekana kama kadi.

  8. 8

    Akaunti moja kwa mtu mmoja

Hadi machapisho 10 kwa siku, herufi 280 kila moja.

What the filter does

Words are checked however they are spelt – capitals, accents, numbers for letters or stretched letters.

Refused

Never published – you are asked to rephrase
  • Threats, calls to violence and weapons talk
  • Phone numbers, e-mail addresses and ID numbers
  • Hate speech and slurs about any group
  • Degrading insults and wishing harm on anyone

Held for a moderator

Published only if a moderator approves
  • Talk that suggests violence
  • Rude words and name-calling
  • Possible false voting information
  • Links to outside websites
  • The first post from a brand-new account

How moderation works

  1. 1CheckedEvery post is checked before it appears.
  2. 2Refused or heldSerious breaches never go live; doubtful posts wait for a moderator.
  3. 3ReportedAnyone signed in can report. Several reports hide a post until reviewed.
  4. 4DecidedRemoved posts show the reason. Three warnings pause an account for 7 days.
  5. 5AppealAppeal once from My Baraza within 14 days; a different moderator decides.
Jinsi usimamizi unavyofanya kazi (Kiswahili)
  1. 1HukaguliwaKila chapisho hukaguliwa kabla ya kuonekana.
  2. 2Hukataliwa au husubiriMakosa makubwa hayachapishwi; yenye shaka husubiri msimamizi.
  3. 3HuripotiwaYeyote aliyeingia anaweza kuripoti. Ripoti kadhaa huficha chapisho.
  4. 4HuamuliwaChapisho likiondolewa, sababu huonyeshwa. Onyo tatu husimamisha akaunti siku 7.
  5. 5RufaaKata rufaa mara moja ndani ya siku 14 kupitia My Baraza; msimamizi mwingine huamua.
