Led by party Chairperson Gladys Wanga, the leaders donning orange attire in honour of their founding party leader maintained that they would not relent in their push to have one of their own appointed as President Rutoโ€™s running mate ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Sifuna said he had kept his promise to Raila during his burial, maintaining that he had tried to prevent divisions within the party despite being at the centre of some of the controversy surrounding its leadership, leading to his ultimate ouster.

A day after retired President Uhuru Kenyatta resigned as chairman of the Azimio Coalition, the Jubilee Party, which he led until recently, also wants out of the coalition. In an exclusive interview with NTV, Jubilee Deputy Leader Jeremiah Kioni says the coalition, now rebranding as the Ukombozi Alliance, was detrimental to Jubileeโ€™s national presence in 2022, arguing that the party has little to gain from staying in Azimio next year and should instead seek a new coalition.

This comes as DCP and Linda Mwananchi appear to be warming to each other, potentially forming a coalition away from Azimio, in what could further complicate Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyokaโ€™s efforts to revive the 2022 political behemoth, following the high-profile departures of ODM and Martha Karuaโ€™s Peopleโ€™s Liberation Party.
