An Eldoret Magistrate’s Court has ordered a lorry driver to pay Ksh.4,000 fine or be jailed for one day after he pleaded guilty to transporting logs without a permit.
Alfred Wandera Juma caused laughter when he told Resident Magistrate Naima Chelagat Kirui that he would prefer to spend one day behind bars and secure his freedom rather than pay the fine.
Earlier, after pleading guilty to the charge, the accused shocked the court when he said he was willing to pay a Kshs.10,000 fine.
