Twenty-nine suspects have been arrested in a three-day multi-agency operation that recovered suspected contraband worth Ksh62.7 million, rescued seven suspected trafficking victims and uncovered 85 Kenyan passports at a recruitment agency suspected of operating illegally.

Dubbed Operation Usalama XII, the exercise brought together the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), INTERPOL and other law enforcement agencies to target counterfeit products, smuggled cigarettes, illicit alcohol, falsified pharmaceuticals, human trafficking and wildlife-related offences.

Investigations spanned Nairobi, Central, Coast, Rift Valley, Eastern, Nyanza and Western regions, with officers also conducting 198 motor vehicle checks against INTERPOL databases to identify vehicles potentially linked to transnational crime.
