DPP recommends defilement charges against Yala clinician over alleged abuse of 14-Year-Old

NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 29 – The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has recommended charges against a clinician based in Yala, Siaya County, over the alleged defilement of a 14-year-old girl.
In a statement issued on Thursday, October 29, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) said it had reviewed an inquiry file submitted by the National Police Service and determined that the suspect should face charges under the Sexual Offences Act.
The clinician is to be charged with defilement, contrary to Section 8(1) as read with Section 8(3) of the Sexual Offences Act, No. 3 of 2006.
