The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has urged
surveyors to uphold professional integrity and protect public land, warning
that corruption in the sector could have lasting consequences for communities
and future generations.
EACC Chairperson David Oginde made the call during the
Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK) Africa Regional Conference in Naivasha,
where he challenged practitioners to exercise diligence in decisions concerning
land ownership, use and management.
“The tragedy of land-related corruption has serious
consequences that can endure for a very long time,” Oginde said, noting that
land has historically been a source of conflict in Kenya.
