Former Nairobi Provincial Commissioner Davis Nathan Chelogoi has been found guilty on five counts in a Sh1.3 billion land fraud case involving a 7.39-hectare parcel in Lower Kabete, Nairobi.
The case centres on a disputed property claimed by businessmen Ashok Rupshi Shah and Hitenkumar Amritlal Raja, who said they purchased the land from Liney Company Limited for Sh33 million in January 2007. Their ownership was subsequently upheld by the Environment and Land Court in 2022 and affirmed by the Court of Appeal.
Chelogoi maintained that former President Daniel arap Moi allocated him the land in 1995, for which he paid Sh2.48 million. He said his public service duties delayed the regularisation of his ownership documents, with a title deed eventually issued in June 2021.
