Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja have given conflicting accounts of whether the county approved the Eastleigh building that collapsed, with both leaders presenting documents to support their positions.
The dispute centres on an approval notice dated February 13, 2024, which Babu shared on October 25, 2026, claiming that Sakaja had misled Kenyans about the building’s approval status.
However, Sakaja dismissed the document as fake, arguing that the county approved a change of use for the property but never authorised the construction of the building.
