In April this year, 47 families from Obwanda in the Ramula area of Siaya County fled their homes following arson attacks linked to relocations for Shanta Gold’s Sh17.7 billion mining project.
Two people were killed during clashes between police and residents of West Gem. Five months later, some of the affected families have been compensated and relocated.
