Former bodyguard to the late Raila Odinga, Philip Otieno, has claimed the former Prime Minister’s political alliance with former President Uhuru Kenyatta helped remove former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu.
Speaking on the Iko Nini podcast, Otieno said Raila and Uhuru joined forces in the March 2018 handshake, which reshaped political alliances in the country, and that the two governors were removed after that.
“It was when Sonko and Waititu were governors. They were causing chaos in Central Kenya, trying to please Uhuru. That is why, when Raila and Uhuru came together during the handshake, they had to be removed,” Otieno said.
