Inter-service cooperation, operational awareness and a thorough understanding of the diverse roles played by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) are essential in preparing future military leaders for the demands of modern warfare and national security.
General Service Officers (GSO) Cadets from Kenya Military Academy (KMA) undertook a familiarisation tour of Kenya Navy Base Mtongwe as part of their ongoing tour of the Coastal Region. The visit provided an invaluable opportunity for the cadets to gain firsthand insights into naval operations, maritime security and the strategic role of the maritime domain in safeguarding Kenya’s national security.
The familiarisation tour formed part of the cadets’ broader professional development programme, designed to expose them to the operational environments, capabilities and responsibilities of the various KDF Services. Through engagements and practical learning experiences, the cadets gained a deeper appreciation of the Kenya Navy’s contribution to national defence and the value of jointness in achieving the KDF’s mission.
