The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has approved charges against five individuals and 12 companies accused of involvement in a scheme to defraud the government of approximately Ksh3.9 billion in Value Added Tax (VAT).
In a statement issued on October 15, the DPP said the decision followed investigations conducted jointly with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), during which prosecutors reviewed 70 inquiry files.
The five individuals are Henry Ateka Nyabwari, James Ojiambo Nyengenye, Amisi Zamda, Frank Nyabwari and Hesbon Onyoni.
