Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo has called for the dismissal of chiefs who fail to tackle illicit alcohol brewing and distribution in their areas of jurisdiction.

Speaking during Mazingira Day celebrations in Kamae, Kiambu County, on Saturday, October 10, 2026, Kabogo accused local administrators of failing to act against illicit brewers despite knowing those involved in the trade.

“Illicit brew doesn’t rain from the sky. It is people that sell it, and they are known. The chief knows them too,” Kabogo said.
