Kenya has discharged five Ebola patients from hospital after laboratory tests confirmed they had recovered from the virus, marking progress in the country’s efforts to contain the outbreak.

The Ministry of Health said the five patients were released on Tuesday after testing negative for Ebola. Meanwhile, the country’s two remaining patients are continuing to receive treatment in hospitals in Nairobi.

Kenya has so far recorded nine Ebola cases, including two deaths. According to the Ministry of Health, no new infections have been reported since October 19, raising hopes that the outbreak could be contained within a single cluster.
