A Kenyan man living in Nebraska, United States, is facing a felony charge after allegedly using stolen identities to obtain student financial aid worth approximately Ksh 2.65 million.

The man, who was living in Lincoln, has been charged with second-degree forgery following an investigation into financial aid cheques allegedly issued to people enrolled in online college programmes without their knowledge.

According to an arrest affidavit reported by US media, police began investigating after receiving a report that the man was receiving cheques issued in the names of people who claimed they had never applied to the institutions associated with the payments.
