The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) will transition to a Multi-Vendor User-Owned electronic seal framework for cargo tracking from October 26, 2026, requiring importers, exporters, and transporters to obtain tracking devices from approved vendors.

In a public notice dated October 16, KRA announced that its electronic seals used to track dry cargo and motor vehicles under the Regional Electronic Cargo Tracking System (RECTS) will cease operating from the effective date.

The authority said electronic monitoring and tracking of goods under customs control will subsequently be conducted exclusively using devices supplied by approved vendors under the new framework.
