Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has received backing for the Deputy President position in the 2027 elections from a section of Members of Parliament (MPs).
The legislators who included Irene Njoki (Bahati), Anne Wamuratha (Kiambu) and Gachoki Gitari (Kirinyaga Central) also warned Mt. Kenya region against ignoring their advise not to abandon President William Ruto’s re-election, saying the community risks losing its political influence.
They cited Waiguru’s work experience at the National Treasury, Cabinet Secretary and two terms as Kirinyaga governor, saying this had prepared her for a greater national responsibility
