The Cabinet Secretary for the Interior and National Administration Kipchumba Murkomen has explained why Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna was denied a chance to address mourners during the burial of Senior Assistant Inspector General of Police (SAIG) Lazarus Opicho in Sirende, Trans Nzoia County.
Speaking in Nandi Hills town on Saturday, October 17, 2026, Murkomen appeared to take aim at Sifuna and other opposition leaders, questioning their ability to compete politically with President William Ruto without relying on his public engagements.
“I don’t even know who you are competing with. We were with you here in Trans Nzoia yesterday. Your competitor, that Mr empty, the one associated with chickens who rode a bicycle, had gone to another funeral nearby while we were with you at the other event. He was told he could not speak at that funeral because it was not a place for making noise,” Murkomen said.
