NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 4 โ€” ODM Party Leader Oburu Oginga says he resigned as chairperson of the Senate Energy Committee to avoid being overwhelmed by parliamentary responsibilities and his new role steering the party.

Oburu said the decision was intended to ensure neither Parliament nor ODM suffered from his divided attention as he took on the demands of leading the party.

โ€œI was the chair of Energy. I resigned from it just because of duty. I don’t want to do any work haphazardly. That’s why I thought my time was also taken a lot by the party, the new role I took of the party,โ€ he said.
