The High Court in Kajiado has declared that the personal branding of projects funded by public resources violates Kenya’s national values and principles of governance, in a case challenging the use of taxpayer-funded infrastructure for political self-promotion.
The case was filed by Shadrack Wambui through Sheria Mtaani against Kajiado North Member of Parliament Onesmus Ngogoyo, over allegations that public projects had been branded with the legislator’s image, name and political slogans.
In a petition filed before the court, Wambui accused the MP of using public infrastructure, including roads, schools and dispensaries, as personal political billboards.
