NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 16 — President William Ruto has signed into law an extension of the reduced 8 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) on petroleum products, days after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) applied the same rate in its latest fuel-price review.
The Tax Laws (Amendment) Act, 2026, empowers Treasury Cabinet Secretary to extend the reduced VAT rate for a further 90-day extension.
Friday’s signing at Eldoret State Lodge comes after EPRA announced new maximum retail prices on October 14, maintaining VAT at 8 per cent for the October 15 to November 14 pricing cycle.
