Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa has outlined plans to expand M-PESA beyond money transfers into a broader financial services platform offering payments, savings, investments and insurance.
Speaking to CNN’s Victoria Rubadiri in an upcoming episode of Marketplace Africa, Ndegwa discussed Safaricom’s transformation into a technology company, the evolution of M-PESA and the role of artificial intelligence in expanding financial inclusion across Africa.
He also highlighted the company’s investment in connectivity infrastructure, expansion into Ethiopia and plans to use artificial intelligence to combat fraud as digital financial services continue to grow.
