Winnie Irmgard Odinga is a Kenyan politician, communications professional and member of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA). The youngest daughter of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Ida Odinga, she has built a career in strategic communications and regional politics.
Winnie has increasingly attracted public attention following her father’s death in October 2025. On Thursday, October 15, 2026, she announced her intention to contest the Nairobi County Senate seat in the 2027 General Election, signalling a new chapter in her political career.
She is the youngest child of Raila and Ida Odinga, a family that has played a significant role in Kenya’s political history. Her grandfather, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, was Kenya’s first Vice President, while her father served as Prime Minister from 2008 to 2013 following the post-election violence of 2007-2008.
