The Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) has proposed
Ksh.457.28 billion for county governments in the 2027/28 financial year, an
increase of Ksh.29.28 billion from the current financial year’s allocation.
The recommendation would raise the county equitable share
from Ksh.428 billion in the 2026/27 financial year, with the commission saying
the additional funding would support healthcare, accommodate public-sector pay
adjustments and sustain service delivery across the 47 devolved units.
Against a projected shareable revenue pool of Ksh.3.25
trillion, the proposed county allocation would account for 22.3 per cent of
audited national revenue, above the constitutional minimum of 15 per cent.
