The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has warned against the unauthorised disclosure of fuel price information before official announcements, following reports that Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua revealed the latest prices ahead of the regulator.
Speaking during a press briefing on October 14, EPRA Director General Edward Kinyua said the law provides for stiff penalties for anyone found guilty of releasing fuel price information without authorisation.
He added that investigative agencies would need to establish the source of the alleged leak and determine the circumstances under which the information was disclosed.
