The Ministry of Health has confirmed a third case of Ebola (Bundibugyo virus disease) in Kenya.

According to Director-General for Health Patrick Amoth, the patient is a 65-year-old woman who is a close relative and primary contact of the first two patients and had been in quarantine since October 6.

The patient is currently receiving care at the Infectious Disease Unit after her samples tested positive at both the National Virology Reference Laboratory and the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) laboratory.
