The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has suspended the Migwani Ward by-election in Mwingi West Constituency, Kitui County, following interim conservatory orders issued by the High Court.
In a public notice dated Tuesday, October 27, 2026, the commission said the court issued the orders on October 22, 2026, suspending the electoral process for 30 days pending the hearing of a petition.
IEBC said the orders arose from Constitutional Petition Number E011 of 2026, filed by Francis Musili Kauta against the commission and three other respondents. The court scheduled the petition for hearing on November 11, 2026.
