The International Institute for Legislative Affairs (IILA) has urged Parliament to fast-track the Tobacco Control (Amendment) Bill, 2024, warning that delays could leave children and young people vulnerable to emerging nicotine products.
IILA Programmes Manager Ken Marau said Kenya had made significant progress in tobacco control, with prevalence declining from 11.6 per cent in 2014 to 8.5 per cent in 2022.
However, he warned that the growing use of emerging nicotine products, particularly among young people, remained a concern.
