Kenya has traced more than 97% of people who came into contact with the country’s Ebola deceased patient, surpassing the global benchmark of 85% as health officials intensify efforts to prevent further infections.

Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni said the Ministry of Health (MOH) had made significant progress in identifying and monitoring contacts, with those already traced placed under surveillance to limit the risk of further transmission.

“We have already met the global benchmark of 85% of the contacts that have been traced. We are above 97% of contacts traced,” Muthoni said.
