Kirinyaga County’s economy grew by 66 per cent between 2017 and 2025, according to figures presented by Governor Anne Waiguru during her final State of the County Address on Tuesday, November 2, 2026.

Waiguru told the County Assembly that the county’s Gross County Product increased from Ksh.114.9 billion in 2017 to Ksh.190.79 billion in 2025, with real economic growth reaching 8.7 per cent in 2025 against a national average of approximately 6 per cent.

She also reported an increase in the county’s own-source revenue, which rose from Ksh.344.4 million in the 2017/18 financial year to Ksh.1.11 billion in 2025/26. She attributed the increase to digitising revenue collection and introducing the Facility Improvement Fund.
