The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has intercepted 52 refurbished mobile phones and three drones at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after Customs officers caught an airport cleaner attempting to leave the terminal with two backpacks containing the items.
The incident occurred on Saturday, October 17, 2026, during the clearance of arriving passengers.
Customs officers noticed the cleaner carrying two black backpacks as she exited the terminal. When she saw the officers, she attempted to flee but they intercepted her for questioning.
