Preparations underway for first memorial of late Raila Odinga

Preparations are in high gear for the main commemoration of the first anniversary of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s death, with family members, political leaders, community representatives and supporters expected to converge at Migwena Cultural Grounds in Bondo, Siaya County, on Thursday, October 15.
The memorial gathering, scheduled to begin at 7am, will be the highlight of a three-day programme running from October 13 to 15, organised to celebrate the life, political journey and legacy of the veteran opposition leader.
The main memorial at Migwena Cultural Grounds is expected to bring together Raila’s family, political leaders, community representatives, invited guests and members of the public for a collective tribute to the former prime minister, who died on October 15, 2025. The event will provide an opportunity for Kenyans to reflect on Raila’s decades of public service, his contribution to the country’s democratic development and the ideals he championed throughout his political career.
