NAIROBI, Kenya Oct 24 – President William Ruto has defended Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote’s acquisition of a 25 per cent stake in the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) amid public outcry over the transaction, insisting the deal will benefit Kenyans.

Ruto has dismissed criticism of the investment, warning that extortionists and brokers seeking to interfere with investment opportunities will not be tolerated.

The President’s remarks come amid questions from opposition leaders over the circumstances surrounding the sale of KPC shares, the role of state-linked institutions in the transaction and the transparency of the government’s broader investment plans involving Dangote.
