Stefan Persson is a Swedish business magnate with an estimated net worth of $14 billion. He built his fortune through his ownership of Hennes & Mauritz (H&M), the international fashion retailer founded by his father, Erling Persson, in 1947. His family has played a central role in the company’s growth into one of the world’s largest clothing retailers.
Persson took over as H&M’s chief executive officer in 1982 and led the company for 16 years. He later served as chairman before handing the position to his eldest son, Karl-Johan Persson, in 2020. Although he stepped away from the company’s daily leadership, his family has continued to maintain a significant ownership interest in the business.
Beyond H&M, Persson has invested in technology and real estate. He holds an interest in Hexagon AB, a Swedish information technology company, and operates Ramsbury Invest, a private real estate business with properties in Sweden, France, and the United Kingdom.
