Party activity

It would not surprise me to see the emergence of a woman-led, woman-centred, or women-only political party in Uganda over the next few years, if not before the next election.

It would surprise me even less if such a party were to then fizzle out, after a brief moment of intense popularity, during which time a whole lot of new neoliberal schemes would be sold to the population as “liberation”.

Neoliberalism is basically the stage of capitalism where it seeks to return completely to its founding work methods. New governments are installed and encouraged to sweep aside all public policy aimed at shielding the vulnerable from the worst effects of those methods, and to instead facilitate a more thorough exploitation of labour and natural resources. Everything becomes a commodity.
