African podcasts are generating stronger audience engagement than their counterparts in higher-paying markets but earn significantly less from advertising, with a new report estimating a $1.4 million gap in potential revenue.
The Creative Africa Intelligence Report (CAIR) 2026 by SemaBOX found that 330 podcast episodes and videos published between June 2025 and July 2026 generated more than $900,000 in advertising value at prevailing market rates.
The same content could have attracted more than $2.3 million if priced at advertising rates in markets such as the United States, United Kingdom and Australia.
