Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has dumped the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and joined the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM as he seeks re-election in the 2027 General Election.
Sakaja was officially welcomed to ODM at Chungwa House in Nairobi by Deputy Party Leader Simba Arati, National Chairperson Gladys Wanga and other party officials.
He linked his decision to his relationship with ODM’s late founder, Raila Odinga, whom he said influenced his political journey and leadership values. “If Baba was here today, and he is the one who told me to join ODM, he said that Nairobi should remain bold and we will do everything to ensure that is present in ODM,” he said.
